An Orange City teen, Tyler Huizenga, was seriously injured Saturday in a motorcycle accident. The Sioux County Sheriffs Department says the 14-year-old was riding in a recently-harvested soybean field northwest of Hospers when his cycle struck a hole and threw him. He was flown to a Sioux City hospital for treatment.
A car-bicycle accident south of Hull Saturday caused injury to the rider. Brian Van Engen of Hull was riding on a blacktop road, when a van coming from a gravel road pulled into his path. Van Donge was wearing a helmet, and was taken to Sioux Center Hospital for treatment.
Lyon County authorities say a Jesup, Iowa, man turned himself in Sunday. Tracy James Hackert, 26, was wanted on several charges stemming from a high speed chase where a Buchanan County deputy was injured. Hackert's vehicle was found in a rural Lyon County grove.
A Sioux Falls man was arrested by Lyon County authorities for failing to register as a sex offender. 67-year-old Frederick Henry Gorwill was on the South Dakota offender registry, but had been living in Larchwood without notifying authorities as required by law.
